December 1, 2009
Dear Mr. Kaller:
I wanted to thank you and your exceptional team at Russell Roofing for the fine work and assistance surrounding my investment property in Flourtown, PA.
Briefly, I should have selected your company to perform necessary work upon receiving your initial, quite competitive, proposal in 2007. Instead, I selected an inferior contractor who did not do the work promised and caused damage to my property. Additionally, I learned that proper permits and insurance were not in place for the proposal. Your organizations willingness to re bid and complete the job a year and many headaches later is appreciated.
A more detailed description of my experience follows:
I purchased an investment property in Flourtown, PA in December 2006. The roof needed replacement and I requested 3 proposals from 3 local roofing contractors. All proposals were for the same scope of work and were close in price. I contracted with Quality Roofing Systems to complete the work. The work was completed at the end of July 2007. Shortly after the new roof was installed, one of my tenants reported multiple leaks in the kitchen and laundry area as evidenced by stains on the ceiling and walls and water on the kitchen floor. The contractor was called and returned to attempt to fix the multiple leaks. It was agreed that we would watch the repairs prior to him returning to paint the stains in the ceiling. Again, in the fall and winter the tenant reported leaks, the contractor returned again to attempt to repair the leaks. It was once again agreed that we would watch the repairs. On December 26, 2008, the tenant called to report similar and additional leaks. I called the contractor who agreed to meet at the property to view the damage. Upon entering, we observed multiple, significant leaks creating stains on the ceiling. The contractor once again suggested that he repair the leaks and wait to see if they hold.
At this point, it was clear that the contractor had not and could not fix the roof. In fact, I came to learn that he had not installed the type of roof called for per the contract and the flat roof application.
Frustrated, I called your organization and asked for an updated proposal. Sandy was efficient and professional in arranging the proposal. Paul and his exceptionally professional installation team completed the work without delay. I’d also like to share that the photos Paul took while installing the new roof has help me prevail in a civil matter I was forced to bring against the aforementioned contractor. Please share my sincere thanks with both gentlemen.
In hopes that others do not share my experience, I’d be happy to serve as a reference should any of your prospective customers be interested in hearing about your exceptional organization. Please feel free to extend my contact information as necessary.
